New EcoTravel magazine

The first issue of EcoTravel, went on sale on 19th February 2010, with the purpose of promoting environmentally friendly responsible tourism.

Just short of 100 pages, issue 1 covers eco-friendly UK homestays, wilderness adventures in Yukon, an Antarctic article written by a member of B.A.S. (British Antarctic survey) and an investigation into how Switzerland is responding to the growing demand for sustainable tourism.

Regular features include; essential eco-travel advice, eco-events, eco-friendly gear and eco-competitions. Oh, and did I mention that the emphasis is on eco-travel?

The magazine claims to be written by 'highly respected travel writers with an interest in remote places and untold stories, each bringing a distinctive voice, style and rhythm to the pages'.

Editor Michael Cowton says: “With an increasing awareness of global responsible principles in our everyday lives, the public is clearly keen to adopt these values through their choice of holiday destinations."

Michael says that EcoTravel aims to bring to the forefront 'unusual, alternative and authentic' travel experiences, that are 'grounded in culture, nature and
wildlife, and rooted in local knowledge'.

EcoTravel is available to buy online at www.ecotravelmagazine.co.uk and in WHSmith stores
